LAMINATE OR POSTFORMED COUNTERTOPS
Postforming simply means that the laminate is heated and wrapped around curved particleboard to produce a seamless front edge, countertop and back splash. You get all the benefits of solid surface - handsome looks and no seams to collect dirt and grime - but for a sizable financial savings. Laminate pieces are also available with or without a back splash, variety of edge styles, colors, textures and undermount sinks.

CARE AND PRECAUTIONS: Use coasters under all glasses, particularly those containing alcohol or citrus juices. Many common foods and drinks contain acids that will etch or dull the surface of many stone. DO NOT place hot items directly on the stone surface. Use trivets or mats under hot dishes and placemats under china, ceramics, silver or other objects that can scratch surfaces. Most mineral surfaces are porous and soak up fluids like a sponge. A penetrating seal must be applied annually to stone before use of products. Even after the application of a sealer some stone surfaces are still susceptible o staining. Sone is a common term that classifies marble, granite, slate, terra cotta, limestone and pavers.
STONE CARE RECOMMENDATIONS: Check to make sure stone has a sealer applied to it before using any cleaning products. Always use clean mops, sponges, towels or rags and replace them as needed. Clean up all spills immediately to prevent staining and etching.
SOME ITEMS THAT CAN DAMAGE STONE SURFACES .... Soda, juices, alcoholic beverages, ketchup, mustard, vinegar, rock salt, sand, shaving cream, perfume/cologne, polish removed, dishwashing soap, hair perm chemicals, shampoos and body soaps that contain EDTA, tooth-paste, drain cleaners, toilet bowl cleaners, household cleaning products and any fluid that contains an acid or alkali.
SOLID SURFACE
Corian is the original solid surface material invented by DuPont over 40 years ago. Now there are additional manufacturers of solid surface products which include AVONITE, LG HI-MACS, MEGANITE, NORTH STAR and SERENITY. These products come with a 10 year limited warranty when installed by a certified fabricator/installer. It is nonporous and does not promote the growth of bacteria, mold or mildew. Common stains and scratches are easily removed because the color runs throughout. LG HI-MACS has the only 15 year TRANSFERABLE warranty for this product.
